Land And See
Layers and layers of soothing sounds. Drones galore in a warm glove of satin. For fans of Hellvete, La Monte Young, K Leimer
LAND AND SEA is pleased to announce the release of its 36th effort:
WITH LIGHT, the first full length LP by Oakland, California based artist CHRISTOPHER ROBIN DUNCAN.
Composed from live performance recordings and studio edits, using harmonicas, tuning forks, field recordings and electronics, WITH LIGHT encapsulates one year(2019) of sonic activity into 3 movements. Prompted by field recordings of waves breaking on the Northern California coastline, lush, warm, harmonic tones ebb and flow through-out these compositions.
Christopher Robin Duncan, born 1974, USA, is an Oakland, California-based artist who employs time, repetition and accumulation
as a basis for experiments in visual and sound based media. An overriding theme in current works is time and the use of natural forces, such as the sun, the moon and the ocean as conceptual and compositional prompts for both visual and sonic efforts. He has exhibited and performed extensively in America. Christopher has self-released several tapes and records as well as a tape with Aventures Ltd in 2019. Outside of his studio practice, Duncan, along with his
partner Maria Otero, runs LAND AND SEA- a small press and project/performance space in Oakland. Chris Duncan eceived his BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts, and his MFA from Stanford University.
